Muhammad Firmansyah Kasim
Muhammad Firmansyah Kasim is the Co-founder and Chief Scientific Officer at Machine Discovery, a role he has held since May 2019 in Oxford, UK. Concurrently, he serves as a consultant, helping companies solve problems related to AI, statistics, and machine learning, hired through Oxford University Innovation Ltd. With a background as a postdoctoral research assistant at the University of Oxford since July 2017, Kasim specializes in developing simulation software and applying machine learning techniques in High Energy Density Science and Medical Physics.
In addition to his roles at Machine Discovery and Oxford, Kasim has been a Physics Computing Lab Demonstrator at the University of Oxford since October 2014, assisting undergraduate physics students. His experience includes a summer stint at CERN in 2013, where he developed a web application for the CMS Experiment, and earlier roles as a part-time physics teacher in Indonesia and a research assistant at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia. Kasim's early career also saw him serving as a laboratory assistant at Institut Teknologi Bandung, where he was recognized as a favorite assistant. His extensive background underscores a strong foundation in physics and a significant contribution to AI and machine learning applications in scientific research.
